T&T Secures Opening Win At Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Tournament

The Trinidad and Tobago Under-16 Women’s Netball Team secured an impressive victory in their opening fixture at the 2025 Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Tournament at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Barbados, when they defeated Grenada 30-19.

Dominating the match from the outset, the Junior Calypso Girls swiftly established a commanding lead, finishing the First Quarter ahead 7-3. By halftime, their advantage extended to 16-10, showcasing consistent scoring momentum. Entering the Final Quarter, Trinidad and Tobago remained firmly in control, eventually closing the match with an eleven-goal advantage.

Key offensive performances came in the second and fourth periods, each seeing Trinidad and Tobago net nine goals, underlining their attacking prowess. Makayla Grant spearheaded the offensive duties in the goal shooter position, ably supported by goal attack Tenicia Goodridge. Defensively, goalkeeper Nefertiti Barrington delivered a resilient performance to limit Grenada’s scoring opportunities.

Trinidad and Tobago next face Antigua and Barbuda on April 8th at 7:15pm, as the regional youth competition continues until its conclusion on April 12th.
