The Cricket West Indies Regional Under-17 two day format got off to a solid start today at three venues in Trinidad, with the home side in a solid position.
Facing the Leeward Islands at the Inshan Ali Park in Preysal, the Leewards were dismissed for a below par 73 from 38.5 overs. Carlton Pluck was the only batter of note with 22.
In the bowling department for T&T, Ishmael Ali bagged a fifer, taking 5 for 16 in 13 overs. He was ably supported by right arm quick Aadian Racha, taking 3 for 21.
T&T then took to the crease and made light work of their initial 73-run target and continued to pile on the runs. Opener Luke Ali struck a patient 47, supported by Southerner Brendan Boodoo who was dismissed late in the day for 44.
T&T finished the day on 142 for 4 and hold the advantage with a 69-run lead, heading into the second and final day which begins at 10am.
