The audited financial statements of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFA) for 2020 and 2021 have been approved by a vote of 16-6, according to initial reports coming to hand today.
The TTFA membership convened an Extraordinary General Meeting at the Home of Football in Couva.
The latest development is one step closer to the restoration of FIFA funding to the embattled FA.
Meanwhile, the TTFA is set to embark on a process which has long been explored but never fully implemented – the registration of Football Academies.
A release from the TTFA stated that the initiative is in furtherance of its efforts to provide a safe space for all players while continuing to fulfil its safeguarding obligations to CONCACAF and FIFA. The TTFA advised all its Members that the registration of football academies will begin on Wednesday 12th October 2022 from 12:00 midday.
The registration of academies is an essential safeguarding tool used to ensure that persons interacting with young children are suitably trained, qualified and vetted to work with children. The registration process will ensure that only safeguarding compliant academies are licensed to operate under the ambit of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association.
