TTO’s Paul And Brown Out Keirin Finals At UCI World Championships

TTO Sprint cyclists Nicholas Paul and Kwesi Browne will not take part in tomorrow’s Keirin Final at the 2023 UCI World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

The pair had a tough go of it in the Preliminary Heats.

Paul, fresh off copping TTO’s historic first ever Men’s Sprint World Champs medal, finished 5th in Heat 2. His eternal rival, Kevin Quintero of Colombia, won in a time of 9.783.

Browne faced the starter in Heat 4 and fared slightly better, finishing third. Jair Tjon En Fa of Suriname finished in 9.896.

Both riders entered the Round 1 repechage for a second bite at qualification.

In Heat 3, Browne was again just short of the top two. Israel’s Mikhail Yakovlev won in 10.126.

Paul finished 4th in Heat 4, both riders falling short of Quarter Final berths.
