TTPS Committed To Improving Detection Rate

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says while the detection rate is not where it should be, it continues to employ strategies to tackle crime and hold perpetrators accountable.

Head of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Senior Superintendent Rishi Singh, said the TTPS has solved 79 homicides for the year out of 454 murders. He said while this is not a significant achievement, the Police Service remains committed to improving the detection rate in all Divisions.

He said Region 2, which includes the North Eastern, Northern, North Central and Eastern Divisions, continue to be the most impacted with 221 homicides, and a detection rate of just 12.2%.
