TTPS Condemns Social Media Meme Trivialising Tragic Death Of Toddler

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Special Operational Support, Richard Smith, has condemned a recent social media meme that trivialised the tragic death of a three-year-old child in an arson attack last week.

At a TTPS Media Briefing on Monday, ACP Smith said the meme was created and edited based on the TTPS’ response to questions concerning the death of the toddler at last Friday’s Briefing.

He described the act as disrespectful to the grieving family, and an attempt to tarnish the image of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).

“You know what this person has done in essence is trivialise the pain and grief that the relatives of this child are enduring at this time. I believe it was an attempt to make the TTPS look bad as an organisation, but I just want to remind this person, who I believe has nothing else to do, that the TTPS is a strong, resilient organisation, and these petty things cannot hurt us.”
