TTPS Declares SOE Crime Fighting Operations A Success

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is calling their crime-fighting activities following the declaration of the State of Emergency a success.

Speaking at a Press Conference held at the TTPS Headquarters in Port of Spain, Deputy Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin said he is satisfied with the dedication his officers are showing since the State of Emergency was declared on December 30th 2024.

He said 473 operations have been conducted to date. As a result of these operations, the DCP said 503 priority offenders have been targeted, 2,495 searches have been conducted with 360 persons arrested. He also mentioned over 900 traffic offences were detected in 321 traffic operations. Additionally, 22 firearms and over 800 assorted ammunition were recovered. Several quantities of dangerous drugs were also seized.

He said his officers remain focussed as they deal with eliminating this country’s criminal elements even after the State of Emergency is over.

The DCP said the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force continues to assist the Police as part of the joint effort.

DCP Benjamin thanked members of the public for working with the Police during this time.
