TTPS: Receiving Stolen Goods Is An Offence

The recent increase in theft of wire and metal from Government organisations has begun to take a toll on the services being offered by them.

Just two weekends ago, TSTT had underground cables taken, causing great inconvenience to customers.

Inspector Michelle Lewis says citizens need to partner with the police to report any suspicious happenings in their area.

She says that under the Larceny Act, ignorance of the law is no excuse for receiving stolen property.
She noted that if you are found in possession of stolen goods, the penalty is 10 years in jail. It’s a warning she said for those who are summarily removing property from utility companies for their own gain.
