T&T Olympic Judoka Gabriella Wood began her 2022 season with a Gold Medal at the British University and College Sport Judo Championships this weekend.
Wood, representing Stirling University in the Women’s Heavyweight Division, overcame University of Kent’s Fayokemi Abidekun to top the rostrum. Anglia Ruskin’s Lucy Williams was third.
The 24 year old sports scholar is currently in the second year of a Sport Studies degree at the Central Scotland institution.
In 2021, Wood became the first woman judoka and second person to represent TTO in judo at an Olympic Games. She finished her Tokyo 2020 debut games in the Round of 32.
