Two men were killed and another seriously injured on Sunday in a car accident in the Chaguanas area.
TTT News understands that the accident took place shortly before noon in the vicinity of Tracmac Engineering and caused a major traffic pile up.
Police reports state that a Nissan Primera, driven by Shawn Maharaj, was heading North along the Uriah Butler Highway when, on approaching the vicinity of Biljah Road, the driver lost control and slammed into a concrete culvert.
Eyewitnesses reported to police that the vehicle flipped several times before landing on its side.
Two passengers whose identities remain unknown, reportedly died at the scene, while the driver was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for emergency medical attention.
Officers of both the Chaguanas Fire and Police stations responded to incident.
The latest road deaths take this country’s road fatality toll to 63 for 2021.
