In the midst of Wednesday’s blackout, a home in Curepe was firebombed at around 12:10am.
Two sisters, Amanda and Alicia Charles, aged 30 and 31, died.
First responders to the scene were answering a call about a structure on fire located at #60 Watts Street in Curepe.
When they arrived, they saw smoke emanating from an apartment building that was ablaze. A crowd of onlookers alerted responders to three people inside the burning building.
The front door to the apartment was breached, and the three occupants of the apartments were brought out unconscious.
The Fire Services and the Emergency Health Services (EHS) were contacted and the victims were rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex. Upon arrival, Amanda succumbed at 12:58am and her sister, Alicia, was pronounced dead at 1:43am.
One man, 38 year old Fidel Guerra, remains hospitalised.
