The redevelopment of Skinner Park was undertaken to internationally recognised specifications.
This is according to the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDECOTT). The company issued a full statement to respond to allegations made by Opposition Member of Parliament, Dr. Roodal Moonilal.
UDECOTT noted the $131 million refurbishment resulted in a vast improvement of the facility for both the sporting community and spectators.
It defended its re-orientation of the football field, citing positive feedback from users of the venue.
The company also added that the dimensions of the football field are the same as it was before the upgrade – 90 metres by 50 metres – five metres more than the minimum standard required by the International Football Association Board.
UDECOTT described as highly unfortunate what it called misleading statements being publicised about the venue.
