UTT Professor: Stalin Illustrated Great Pride And Self Love For His Blackness

Tributes continue to come in for Black Stalin, and Assistant Professor of Carnival Studies, Dr. Rudolph Ottley of the University of Trinidad and Tobago, is among those lamenting the loss of the master as he believes that younger artistes will suffer from this loss.

Dr. Ottley says Leroy Calliste’s understanding and subsequent tackling of the issue of unity in the Caribbean involved the region accepting the idea of self-love for blackness.

Dr. Ottley says Black Stalin helped refine the idea that black people, as a force, helped to develop the region from inception. He says the message was framed on equality and the fact that black people need to receive the rewards of their work.
