A Valencia man is expected to appear virtually before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, charged with the 2020 murder of Lawrence Lopez.
Lincoln Edwards, 29, of Emon Lane, was also charged with possession of firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of firearm to endanger life and possession of ammunition to endanger life, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Tricia Hudlin-Cooper, on Tuesday 12th October, 2021.
Lopez, 52, of Alexander Street, Valencia, was found lying in a pool of blood on Monday 21st September, 2020, by officers responding to a report of loud explosions at Pine Avenue, Valencia. He was taken to hospital for treatment. He was subsequently discharged but returned to hospital for further treatment where he died on October 27th 2020.
The accused was arrested on Thursday 7th October, 2021 in the Eastern Division.
Investigations were supervised by ASP Douglas, Insp. Hosein, Insp. Ramjag and Insp. Sylvester, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region 2.
Edwards was charged by PC Alister Oliver, also of HBI Region 2, on Tuesday 12th October, 2021.
