Thousands of residents in South Trinidad will have a disruption in their water supply after a 36-inch WASA pipeline ruptured.
The Water and Sewerage Authority says at approximately 2:30pm today, Tuesday, it was was alerted to a ruptured 36โ transmission main at Godineau Bridge Mosquito Creek, San Fernando.
The Authority says investigations revealed the rack used to support the 36โ pipeline collapsed into the river, causing the rupture. WASA says a team was dispatched to make the area safe, isolate the supply, analyse the situation, and commence repairs.
Affected areas include Gulf View, Bel Air, Green Acres, La Romain, Woodland, San Francique, Avocat, South Oropouche, Union Hall, Duncan Village, Palmiste, Esperance, Debe, parts of Penal, Siparia, Quarry Village, Cocoyea, Pleasantville, Vistabella, Marabella, and San Fernando.
WASA says it is anticipated that repairs may take between 48 to 72 hours.
