From tomorrow, Tuesday March 1st, the use of hosepipes and any similar apparatus will be prohibited in accordance with the Water and Sewerage Act.
In an advisory from WASA, it says this is in keeping with its 2022 Dry Season Water Supply Management Plan and will be in place until June 30th 2022. The Authority adds that upon producing authenticated documents, authorised officers of WASA have the general power to enter any premises supplied with water at all reasonable hours in order to examine if there is any waste or misuse of water. It notes there will be increased patrols to ensure compliance with this ban and warns that any person in breach of this prohibition is liable to a fine upon summary conviction.
WASA says the temporary ban includes use of sprinklers, pressure washers, as well as decorative fountains, watering one’s private gardens or washing private motor vehicles.
