The West Indies registered a must-needed win in the first T20 International versus India on Thursday but it came at a cost, literally.
This, as both teams have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy Stadium in Tarouba where they fell short of the minimum over-rate during their bowling innings.
India fell an over short during their bowling innings, leading to 5% of their match fees being reduced. West Indies, on the other hand, fell two overs short, leading to a 10% match deduction in fees for their players.
West Indies captain Rovman Powell and India captain Hardik Pandya both admitted to the offence, meaning an additional hearing wasn’t required.
