The West Indies men tied up their three-match ODI series with a six-wicket win over India at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
Sent in to bat, India reached 181 before running out of wickets in the 41st over. Opener Ishan Kishan hit a ball a run 55 as he and Shubman Gill put up 90 for the first wicket. Apart from them, Suryakumar Yadav was the only batsman of note with 24 runs during a collapse on either side of lengthy rain delays.
Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd were mostly responsible, taking three scalps for 36 and 37. Alzarri Joseph took 2 for 35.
In reply, the men in maroon finally lived up to their billing. Shai Hope had an unbeaten captain’s knock of 63. He and Keacy Carter brought the victory home with a 91-run partnership. Carter finished on 48.
The series decider is carded for Tuesday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
