West Indies Floored On First ODI Against India

India were off to a winning start as the first One Day International between them and the West Indies ended in a five-wicket win.

India decided to field first and it was a right one as they sent Kyle Mayers back with just seven runs on the board.

Wickets continued to go down on a surprising spinning pitch at the Kensington Oval. Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer added 43 for the 4th wicket, before Hetmyer went back. Five wickets then tumbled for 18 runs most of which went to Kuldeep Yadav who finished with figures of 4 wickets for six runs from three overs. 114 all out in 23 overs, with Shai Hope top scoring with 43.

India made light work of the chase but encountered a hint of West Indian resistance. Gudakesh Motie on his return to the team, grabbed of 2 for 26 from 6.5 overs. Ishan Kishan topped the score-sheet with 52 which was enough to lead his team to 118 for 5 in 22.5 overs. India winning the first ODI by 5 wickets and lead the three match series 1 nil. The second clash takes place on Saturday also at the Kensington Oval.
