The West Indies Under-19 Women put in a dismal performance in their first official warm-up match of the ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup in South Africa.
Facing England at the Hammanskraal Mandela Oval in Pretoria, the regional ladies batted first and could only manage 65 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs with Naijanni Cumberbatch top scoring with 25. She was the only batter in double figures for the team captained by Ashmini Munisar.
The English cruised to the target and finished on 68 for 1 in 10.4 overs. 31 from opener Liberty Heap was the top score with 30 not out coming from her opening partner Davina Perrin. Munisar got the lone wicket for the West Indies who will aim to improve in the second warm up on Wednesday versus Zimbabwe. Their first official match of the championship is on Sunday versus Ireland.
