The West Indies under 19 women continued their quadrangular series in India with a T20 clash against New Zealand’s under 19s.
The Caribbean ladies took first strike and registered a much improved batting performance with 116 for 9 from their 20 overs. Captain Ashmini Munisar top scored with 33 with Naijanni Cumberbatch second best getting 26. Amie Hucker bagged two for 27 for the kiwis from her four overs.
New Zealand chasing 117 for the win, were locked in battle at 55 for 4 and eventually struggling at 81 for 7. However, Izzy Gaze’s 44 and Ashtuti Kumar’s quick 21 not out, ensured they crossed the line in the final over. Jannilea Glasgow, Ashmini Munisar and Djenaba Joseph each grabbing two wickets.
117 for 9 in 19.4 overs, the final total as New Zealand won by one wicket.
