WI Under-19 Women Lose T20 WC Opener To India

The West Indies Under-19 Women’s cricket team opened their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign with a nine-wicket defeat against defending champions India.

It was a poor batting performance from the Windies as openers Asabi Callender and captain Samara Ramnath were dismissed for 12 and three, respectively.

Three wickets by India bowler Parunika Sisodia, along with five Windies batters failing to register any runs, left the West Indies all out for 44 runs after only 13.2 overs. Kenika Cassar top-scored with 15.

India made quick work of their chase when G Kamalini and Sanika Chalke combined to score 34 runs. India would go on to a comfortable nine-wicket victory, finishing their innings on 47 for one in just 4.2 overs.
