With some crucial support, Mahmudul Hasan Joy put in a masterful defensive performance for Bangladesh ‘A’ to deny West Indies ‘A’ victory in the 3rd and Final Unofficial Test, but Joshua Da Silva’s team came for high praise at the Sylhet Stadium for securing a Series win away from home.
Mahmudul and Zakir Hasan resumed on their overnight total of 47 without loss and steadily progressed to 93 before Zakir was dismissed for 43. The home team reached 160 for 3, that’s when Yasir Ali joined to construct another match saving partnership as they amassed 117 for the 4th wicket which negated the early advantage held by the West Indies. By the time Ali fell for 67 in the 80th over, a draw looked the likely result.
306 for 4 in 91 overs was the score at stumps with Mahmudul still there on 114 not out off 268 ball with 14 boundaries. Kevin Sinclair was the best West Indian bowler with figures of 3 for 94. The draw giving the West Indies a 1-0 win in the Three-Match Unofficial Test Series.
