Windies Women Lose To Pakistan

Nidar Dar claimed career best figures of 4 for 10 as she rocked the West Indian batters and led Pakistan to their first points of the ICC Women’s World Cup with a player of the match performance in Hamilton today.

The rains poured in New Zealand and getting a result from the 20th world cup match of 2022 seemed out of reach. But the first ball was eventually delivered in the reduced 20 over affair. The Windies women took first strike and lost their first wicket on 19. That began the downward spiral of wickets as the batters struggled to get past 50 even after 10 overs. Nidar Dar broke the back of the line up bagging Dottin for a top score of 27 and went on to be the best bowler of the encounter as the maroon ladies finished on a paltry 89 for 7 of 20 overs. Pakistan were eager to pick up their first points of the tournament and that they did. Muneeba Ali lead the way with a patient 37 of 43 balls supported with 22 not out from Omaima Sohail and 20 not out from Captain Maroof.
This defeat puts a dent in the Windies Women’s chances of securing a semifinal spot and will rely on results from other matches for confirmation of their fate. They next clash with South Africa in a must win encounter on Wednesday.
