The Director of Operations of Woodford Café at Price Plaza in Chaguanas died after his vehicle crashed on the Uriah Butler Highway on Monday afternoon.
Fifty four year old Martin Hatem, of Woodbrook, died at the scene of the accident just after the Grand Bazaar interchange.
According to police, Hatem was driving his Kia Sportage SUV on the Southbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway at around 2.30pm when he lost control and the car flipped. Eye witnesses saw the accident and called the police. They arrived on the scene with a District Medical Officer who declared Hatem dead.
Hatem’s death brought the total road fatality figure for the year to 27 compared to 24 for the same period last year.
