World Athletics Championships – Day 3

To news of track and field out of the World Athletics Championships on Day 3 of competition in Budapest, Hungary.

Team Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle Lee Ahye was in action in semi final one of the women’s 100 metres.

However the national record holder over the distance did not advance to the final as she finished 5th in 11.18 seconds outside of the top two automatic qualifies and also not amongst the next two best times needed for a spot in the medal race.

The race was won by Jamaica’s defending world champion Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce of Jamaica in 10.89 seconds.

In the finals it was American Sha’Carri Richardson that would take top spot in a championship record 10.65 seconds. Jamaicans Shricka Jackson were second and third in 10.72 and 10.77 respectively.

Meanwhile on Tuesday Jereem Richards will look to book his place in the finals of the men’s 400 when he takes to the track in semi final number one.

The Point Fortin native will be in stacked heat that includes world record holder and training partner Wade Van Van Niekerk of South Africa and the Usa’s Vernon Norwood among others.
